(Lost Episode, Summary provided by existing notes)
Rhyaad de’Annar returns to the Blue Whale, hoping to hear any new news, gossip, rumors, etc. of vampire attacks. He meets Esther Friedman, who is engaged in drinking like a fish, smoking like a stack, and talking about being attacked and bitten. This of course draws Rhyaad’s interest: that and the smell of blood on her clothes.
Rhyaad questions Esther and plies her with drinks to loosen her tongue. Also, he thinks her increasing state of inebriation means she will not remember what was said when she wakes the next morning. She relates a tale of encountering three violent femmes and a young girl. According to her story, the girl was being molested by the women, whom Esther fights off with a knife, slashing one of the women across her face. The women flee. She says they fought with their fingernails and seemed to want to bite her. She ‘rescues’ and tries to help the girl, who then pulls her down and bites her on the neck with sharp teeth. The girl then runs away.
Medri Harker also visits the Whale and he and Rhyaad proceed to further question Esther. Esther is aware of the stories of vampire attacks, and a history of stories of vampires, werewolves, and paranormal activity in Collinsport, but apparently does not believe in the supernatural. Rhyaad tries telling her the vampire attacks are real, but she obviously does not believe this.
The women wore dresses. The girl wore a dress and dark purple tinted glasses, and seems to match the description of the little girl who ignited the kitchen in the attack on Harker manor. Rhyaad at first does not think that the girl in the attack on Esther and the attack on Harker manor are the same girl, but later is convinced to agree with Medri that she is. Rhyaad thinks that the women were vampires and that they were defeated far too easily. Medri thinks something made them flee. Rhyaad thinks they must have been ‘newlings’: newly made and untrained vampires. who fled out of their own incompetence. Both think it odd that the girl did not kill Esther. Medri thinks this is part of the general plot to terrorize people. Rhyaad thinks that she chose to spare Esther’s life for unknown reasons of her own.
Medri plays Elanor’s voicemail for Rhyaad. Rhyaad is worried that Elanor has been captured by the vampires who serve Patricia O Donndubhain. (the Vampire leader behind the attacks on the Harker family).
Catherine also appears in the Blue Whale. To Rhyaad’s surprise she offers to help Medri Harker. Rhyaad thinks this is because she believes his opinion that newly made vampires are being allowed to run amok, causing the multiple attacks reported in multiple cities. Of course, such must not be allowed to continue. Rhyaad leaves after making a statement to this effect.
